Slum Child USA is a newly established 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the Slum Child Foundation of Nairobi, Kenya — bringing health, hope, and opportunity to children who need it most.
Slum Child USA serves as the American fundraising and awareness arm of the Slum Child Foundation — a grassroots organization doing life-changing work in the underserved communities of Nairobi, Kenya. Together, we bridge the gap between compassionate donors here and children in need abroad.
The Kenyan NGO operates in Nairobi's urban informal settlements (commonly referred to as "slums") to protect the rights of vulnerable and marginalized children in these impoverished communities. Visit Slum Child Foundation at: www.SlumChildFoundation.org to learn about the efforts in Kenya.
We established Slum Child USA to allow donations made in the US to be tax-deductible and to open opportunities for grants to be made to Slum Child Foundation in Kenya in the case of foundations requiring a US presence.
The mission of Slum Child USA is solely to raise funds to support the work of George Ochieng Odalo and the Kenyan organization. Proceeds will be forwarded to Kenya to allow George and his colleagues to continue their efforts to improve the lives of these poor youth, children, and their families. With funds from the US that support these programs recently cut, donor support is needed more than ever.
The Board of Slum Child USA includes Melissa Rollins, President, Sue Almeida, Treasurer, and Christy Herren Girguis, Secretary. Volunteers are whole-heartedly welcome to support various fundraising projects here in the US.
Please direct any questions to Melissa@SlumChildUSA.org. Donations made here will be held by Slum Child USA and forwarded to Slum Child Foundation in Kenya at the appropriate time.
